3. learndirect Scotland

learndirect presentation

In October 2004, the Black Isle Virtual Learning Centre was awarded “learndirect Scotland” branding. This means that we are to offer learndirect courses through our centre.

What does this mean?

There are a variety of ways that the BIVLC will be able to offer learndirect courses and we hope to be able to offer a number of options to learners later this year.

To start with however, the BIVLC will offer learners access to courses directly from the learndirect website which means that they can learn at home in their own time. To do this, learners will have to register with the BIVLC to obtain the necessary authorisation codes to access the learndirect site.

What courses are available?

Details of all learndirect courses can be found in the catalogue of courses called “Learning Bytes”.  The courses include business and management courses from Xebec, information and technology courses from NETg and courses which support qualifications e.g. in hospitality, call handling and health and safety.

You can have a look at the courses listed in the catalogue without being registered. Just click on the link   Learning Bytes Catalogue

Then type “Learning Catalogue” in the search box.
Then use the drop down menus to select the subjects that you are interested in.

You will then be given a list of courses which are available. You can find out more information about the course by clicking on the course title. You will not be able to register for the course as this has to be done by the BIVLC. So, if you are interested in a learndirect course, please contact Estelle Ellwood, the Course Co-ordinator on 0701 741 7754  or send an email.
