13. What is the
Outreach Programme?
As a
local
learning provider, the BIVLC aims to offer ICT courses to those people
who are unable to attend our courses at the Centre in Fortrose for
whatever reason. We were provided with some local funding to
enable us to purchase laptops to enable us to offer courses in other
locations.
This programme was trialled in Cromarty in 2006, when a group of ladies
attended a six week "Computing for Absolute Beginners" course in the
Victoria Hall. This was so successful that they asked for a further
course which took place at the Cromarty Centre so that they could have
access to the Internet.
In the Spring term, we provided "Computing for Absolute Beginners" at
Findon Hall in Culbokie. This was so successful, that we have been
asked to provide further courses in Culbokie. This term we are offering
3 courses in Fortrose, 2 courses in Culbokie and one course in
Cromarty. See Spring Programme 2008 for details.
We hope to be able to offer this facility at other locations in the
future. If you are interested in attending an outreach course in a location near you, then please email details to Estelle Ellwood.
